Giorgio Armani MILAN, Jan 21, 2005/ FW/ --- Inspired by French multi faceted artist Jean Cocteau and his endless god-like talents, Giorgio Armani for menswear autumn winter 2005/06 goes beyond fine dressing and delivers an exceptional collection of future visions in a wardrobe of brilliant cuts and definition.

While others are simply mixing and matching the casual and classical, Armani incorporates comfort and elegance so naturally it seems obvious. In a wardrobe made up of surrealism, newly reworked classical fabrics and jacket lengths, the Armani man next winter is superb and sexy in every situation.

Jackets are without a doubt Giorgio Armani’s specialty. They adhere slimly to the male torso in slightly longer lengths vaguely eighties in style, made of supple silk and cashmere, the softest velvet and boiled wool, sleeves can be unbuttoned and rolled back revealing silk striped lining in an alternative to added accessories that often take away from garments.

Armani’s attention to detail is unique. From hand-sewn buttonholes to collar details, patterns appearing on knit and the rediscovering of traditional fabrics re-visited to create new contemporary looks.

Polka dots and stripes are worn together, the vest is cropped to accentuate the male torso and sheepskin coats are softer than ever featuring laser linings, in a palette of winter dark blues, touches of green, many grays and purple grape, leaving black as a choice only for evenings to blend and shimmer in the mystery of the night.

Trousers are comfortably liberating tapering at the ankle and with elastic waists reminiscent of sweatpants and the common tracksuit, yet sophistication is Armani’s secret weapon, comfort is not shabby and street but the new elegance, while gentlemanly dress pants are fluid with deep side pleats.

From extra long lapels in eveningwear to delicious capes, Giorgio Armani symbolizes luxury in every aspect, from look, feel to touch, making it no surprise that the applause he received at the end of the show will turn into numerous dollar signs. There were even a few teary eyes to be seen as lights went up, it’s been a while since fashionistas have been emotionally moved by a fashion show. What a way to finish a week!
