MILAN, Jun 27, 2003 /FW/ --- Three collections in one show for the Milanese fashion
giant Giorgio Armani yesterday in Milan, who officially closed the Milan calendar of the
men's spring / summer 2004 collections - Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani and Armani Jeans.
It is time to turn over a new leaf and create a clean look and looking around his
surroundings.
The designer has the distinct impression 'that nothing new is happening in fashion' and
hence for the main line Giorgio Armani, he eliminated the superfluous, such as zips,
fastenings and laces.
A Mediteranean summer with a twist of the 1920's, a decade which embraced eccentricity
and futurism.
Pushing style to limits of irony, looks involve hieroglyphs and symbols in colours
of blue and white for freshness, flashes of red and different shades of azure.
The 'divertissement' of this sartorial game involves stripes of different widths,
trousers that follow the line of the leg and turn - up returns, jackets are light and
can be mistaken almost for shirts in fabric and versatility, while shirts are textures
and printed or with polo collars or cotton jersey inserts.
A more relaxed look is Emporio Armani, crossing over between the street kid and the
sophisticated.
The Emporio logo expands, fragmentates and multiplies.
Shorts are loose and bermudas airy. The knit wear is slightly transparent while jackets
are tailored and slimline with shot shawl collars or double breasted lapels.
Blue, white & red colour tone flexibility and comfort are the keys.
Jeans are reworked in the use of a number of patterns, embroidery and print while
shirt poplin is used for soft metropolitan trousers in an emphasis of informal design rhythm.
Armani Jeans are travelling clothes inspired by the novelist Italo Calvino where one
of his famous pieces of writing takes us through Europe without boundaries.
High comfort clothes in a complex blend of function and style where adaptablity is a necessity.
Blues, sulphur, rock, sublte variations of white and obsidian are the colour palette
for AJ's dreamscape.
T-shirts are labeled, safaris come in hemp/cotton canvas, pockets of all sizes, functional
ultra techno items, edging on lapels of jackets and pre-moulded trousers.
An interplay of Neapolitan light and alluring sensuality for Armani 2004, deliberate
scruffiness is out, casual but stylish is in.
