Girls Rule: Planet Yumthing

The Planet Yumthing designers Ela & Darren went back five decades to get their inspiration for their
Fall 2000 collection, the 1950s America.
The choice for the inspiration is rather interesting, since most of the parents of the teen-agers
who will be wearing this were probably born during the 1950s. Talk about bridging the generation
gap.
I have always thought of the 50s as an innocent decade. The whole world was just recovering from
World War II. Television was just starting to take a foothold in American society, and the cars
are just becoming powerful. The computer was just invented.
In short, it was a harbinger of days to come, i.e., our present was their future.
What a great way to pay homage to this great decade when we are just starting a new one, the 2000s.
