MILAN, Feb 25, 2005/ FW/ --- Shown last Wednesday night, Alessandra Facchinetti brought the fashion crowd nearer to the future with her sexy galactic amazons straight from the Gucci universe.
An optimistic view of tomorrow, where black, silver and cobalt blue rule together with stacked-heel boots, Alessandra Facchinetti’s vision of Fall 2005 is rooted in the future but definitely designed to be worn today.
Maybe because it was shown on a Wednesday, which used to be Startrek night and today is a Friday, which is sci-fi night in American TV, respectively, that the models’ very light make-up and their hair in a pony-tail or slicked-back are so reminiscent of galactic warrior babes that is the fodder of science of fiction.
Keyhole necklines that hint of breasts, spaghetti straps and arm warmer sleeves, bodice hugging cuts that show off the figures and tight-fitting pants speak volumes of a very strong woman that borders on androgyny.
Even the furs and coats are very structured giving them functional looks yet remaining stylish. With high collars and the belts placed at the upper hip, there was a certain star trooper feel to it.
Alessandra Facchinetti unquestionably has the handle on the Gucci look and keeping the label in the same direction it has always been since the time of Tom Ford while adding her own visions.
With a collection like this, registers will be ringing in the Gucci universe come fall, obviously adding to a healthy bottom line.
