DALLAS, Sep 1, 2004 / FW/ --- The Halston invitation featured a dragonfly, showing the delicateness of its two sets of wings. I did not know what it meant, until I saw Bradley Bayou’s sketches for the Halston Spring 2005 couture collection – the beautiful dragonfly is its inspiration!
The mythical insect, considered a messenger from the gods by the Zuni Indians of New Mexico,
have bodies that are often blue, green, purple, and even bronze. Their wings seem to shimmer as if made of silver, especially when under the moonlight.
Capturing the delicacy of this Odonata insect, Bradley Bayou translated the dragonfly’s slender body into a slim silhouette, it’s gossamer wings into a graceful hybrid of structure and movement.
The transformation from the insect to a gown is mesmerizing, another reason why I truly
believe that Halston by Bradley Bayou belongs at the Paris haute couture show. His decision
to continue to show in New York is a treat for the fashion flock. And if ever Halston decide
to move their show in Paris, it will be a loss for the Big Apple, and a gain for the City of Lights.
Bradley Bayou's creations, which had been seen on the red carpet, worn by Halle Berry, Geena Davis, Salma Hayek, Drew Barrymore, Oprah Winfrey and Queen Latifah makes him a definitive “designer to the stars.”
Having dressed some of the most beautiful women in the world, the Texas-native's creative and imaginative designs is not a matter of debate; it is a matter of fact. And viewers of Lifetime’s “Operation Style” where he is the host will agree.
