DALLAS, Jan 16, 2005/ FW/ --- Hussein Chalayan blurs the line between fashion and art. The British press had called him "a fashion
alchemist, transforming heady concepts into clean architectural clothing". His
sculptural works had been exhibited in art galleries.
Voted British Fashion Designer of the Year for 2000, the designer reached international stature.
But great designs also have to be transformed into commercial success, which he failed to do during
his London run.
He had to liquidate his company before the Fall 2001 season.
A designer of his caliber cannot easily be put down.
Like the proverbial Phoenix, he rose from the ashes.
He revived his eponymous label and currently show it in Paris instead of London.
Iconoclastic and avant-garde, Hussein Chalayan continues to wow the fashion world with his
modernistic and almost futuristic view of fashion.
His Spring 2005 collection, which will be available in stores in March is a representation of
his talent and growth as a designer.
Dressing his ladies from morning till night, Hussein Chalayan mixed the traditional with the
avant-garde, resulting to an unusual collection that will surely catch everyone's eyes.
