MILAN, Jun 27, 2005/ FW/ --- Spring and summer trends for 2006 are solidified and set in stone. Each designer has presented your basic sailing stripes of navy and white. Conran is taking it further with mixing different sizes of stripes for suits and making his v-neck jumpers with a curved neck to give a sexy torso silhouette.
There is nothing new under sun, but at least designers can create from a basic palette and make it their own.
This collection is definitely young and more fun for the preppy at heart. Sleeveless sweater vests and jumpers were in pop sickle colours of sherbet orange peach and banana. Stripe shirts in the same colours had French white collar and arm cuffs.
Romantic looking models were wearing full suits teamed with classic Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers for a youthful edge that came off very Hampton with a British kick.
For day looks, slim fitted tanks and pale cotton trousers were note-able. Leather zipper bomber jackets are nice for night layering.
For swimwear, Conran presented zebra inspired prints, but in a deep navy and white combination. Crotch hugging brief cut shorts are basic but were teamed with matching light tops for a feminine yet sexy look for the beach.
It is good to stay classic and to stay progressive in design and style and Conran gave us the best of both worlds for next summer.
