LONDON, Sep 24, 2004/ FW/ --- If the Jasper Conran gentleman will be sporting diamonds and glam-rock fashion next spring, the Jasper Conran lady will not be outdone with her head turning “Austin Powers” inspired dresses.
Taking inspiration from the 1960s, the prolific designer brought to life London’s youth quake 40 years ago and gave it the ultra-modern edge of today.
Starting with a simple yellow pleated skirt and tank top paired with a mustard short-cropped jacket, and the white and orange shirtdress, the classic aura was already apparent.
He then interposed it with metallic gowns and cocktail dresses, an obvious jump to the future, much the same as the time traveling Austin Powers.
Playing with glitter some more, Jasper Conran sent printed shirt dresses embellished with crystals on the placket and collar. So who needs bling when you’re dress already have it?
The designer’s best work was seen on the original prints, wherein he updated the “flower power” by adding shimmer to the petals and stem.
With deep V-necklines and thigh-high slits, the 1960s look had never looked sexier!
