Jil Sander DALLAS, Aug 18, 2006/ FW/ --- With the dress as the focus this season and cold weather just around the corner, the Fall 2006 Jil Sander collection that is now available in stores should be on top of your list to see and try on.

Raf Simons who does not shy away from putting black on the runway created lots and lots of little black shift dresses that are structured and tailored that are so irresistible due to their simplicity.

There were minimal details, the secret being in the cut and construction. From round to jewel neck, from long-sleeves to short sleeves, the silhouette is slim, but not tight. Call it relaxed if you will. The female form is defined with the soft rise on the breasts and flaring gently on the hips, the volume is controlled as tiny darts outline the bodice and semi-bias cut are employed on the skirts.

Known for his inventive work on the coat, Simons also did his magic at Jil Sander, creating mid-calf length A-shaped outer coats that are once again tailored with very controlled volume. Knee-length coats in black, beige and earth tones were given the same treatment.

Plackets were sometimes hidden. But mostly, the coats were derivative of men’s silhouettes, reworked for the female form making it feminine, yet still definitely mannish.

Jackets were double-breasted and sometimes cropped short. Cable knit pullovers are either turtlenecks or crew.

Raf Simons made the ‘basic’ women’s wardrobe covetable, and if you are shopping for fall, Jil Sander is a definite ‘must check out, must visit’ because the coats, the jackets and dresses are something that you simply cannot live without.

In fact, if you can only buy one thing this fall, then Jil Sander should be on top of your list!
