DALLAS, Mar 25, 2001/ FW/ --- "The beehive is back!" announced Joe Casely-Hayford during his Fall 2001
show held at the Sloane Terrace at London Fashion Week.
He sent his models with hair do based on the 1960s beehive.
Other than the hair, the 1960s touches were all
subliminal and you have to look hard to see them.
He presented a very wearable, functional, and almost conservative collection.
Known for his street-style influenced tailoring, Joe Casely-Hayford decided to go conservative
and mainstream this season.
Maybe conservatism is back and the Bush White House's long arm have crossed the Atlantic and
reached London's fashion district.
Because this collection would definitely make Laura Bush happy.
A little dowdy for Joe-Casely Hayford's usual fare, but definitely very acceptable in libraries.
Dresses are below the knee, hip hugging waists, cut at the hips with bias skirts.
Pencil cut
pants were paired with sweater or vests.
Even a shawl made it on the runway!
Paisley print jackets, cardigans and turtleneck sweaters were superbly tailored.
The only concession
to street wear, a blazer made of techno fabric.
