DALLAS, Nov 28, 2000/ FW/ --- Ghanaian-born (1956) designer Joe Casely-Hayford worked at Saville Row before enrolling at Tailor
and Cutter Academy (1974).
He then continued his studies at Central St. Martins in 1979 and launched
his own label in 1984 after quietly establishing himself as a menswear designer.
Later, he expanded his line to womenswear and most recently, footwear.
Street style elegance combined with sharp tailoring and master technique, Joe Casely-Hayford has
an individualistic following who appreciate his functional and cutting edge designed clothes.
Renowned for his street style and club culture influence in his creations, Joe Casely-Hayford is
rivalled only by Gianni and Donatella Versace in dressing recording artists.
His high-profile clientele include Liam Gallagher, Lou Reed, Tori Amos, Neneh Cherry, Suede,
Glamma Kid, Lynden David Hall, Mica Paris and U2.
In 1991, he dressed up U2 for their two-year world tour.
The quality of the best British tailoring combined with a modern eye for adventurous shapes
and fabrics make Joe Casely-Hayford a favourite with those wanting an individualist but wearable
look that does not scream its identity.
Selling equally well to women and men, his top market is Japan but he is well represented in
Britain with womenswear at Liberty and menswear at Selfridges and the Duffer of St.George.
He launched a denim collection during Spring 2002, and it has gotten positive response from
both the press and retailers.
