DALLAS, Aug 9, 2006/ FW/ --- With Kenneth Cole skipping the tents for the Spring 2007 season in lieu of a presentation, the honor of officially opening the New York season had fallen in the hands of John Bartlett.

According to the Fashion Calendar, John Barlett will unveil his Spring 2007 collection at 9:00 AM at the Atelier.

Bartlett, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology and winner of the Perry Ellis Award for menswear launched his eponymous label as a men’s clothing line in 1992, expanding to womenswear later.

Since September 2005 (Spring 2006 season), he had been showing only menswear at the tents in Bryant Park. A year later since his return at the tents, he had been given the honor of kicking of the New York season.

The first day of the New York season has historically been given to menswear as a result of the cancellation of the New York menswear season several years ago. With John Bartlett as the first show, expect a brilliant collection for menswear.

Imaginative and creative, John Bartlett had taken inspiration from today’s headlines to pop culture. Lately, his muse hits home, literally, as he puts the American lifestyle and heritage on the runway.

Like last season, for Fall 2006, his collection (which are currently in stores) was inspired by the Pacific Northwest. Rustic and bucolic, Bartlett reworked the bush jacket to be a utilitarian garment that can be used both in the city and in the country.

Trousers are loose fitting, giving enough room as men moves around. Cargo pants in corduroy and dress pants in Prince of Wales checks with its pockets adorned with flaps make it an all-around wardrobe for the working guy.

The suit jacket was also retrofitted. Boxy with a relaxed fit, additional pockets were put in front in the form of quarter circles, perhaps to give room for the gizmos that all of us seem to carry nowadays, from PDAs to mobile phones.

On the accessories, the computer bag and satchels are the must-have. Roomy and functional, they are necessary for road warriors and weekenders.
