Dec 26, 2001/ FW/ --- Sometimes it is hard to understand the prescience of fashion designers.
John Bartlett showed his Spring 2002 Menswear Collection on September 8, 2001 with a theme
about prisoners and handwritten messages on either their body or their clothes.
The designer has been showing politically themed presentation since last Fall 2001 wherein he
created a collection that paid homage to the legacy of German artist Joseph Beuys and his
near-death WWII experience.
John Bartlett dabbling with political statements is nothing new. And if you consider that the
collection was designed at least 3 months prior, the more you think that there was ESP there.
Maybe, fashion designers could give Ms. Cleo a run for her money!
Now, let's look at the fashion -
Eversince John Bartlett went back to his roots as menswear designer, he has gone from strength
to strength.
Using elements of streetwear and of course prisonwear, the designer gave a very strong collection
worthy of a second look and great consideration to add to one's wardrobe.
