John Varvatos NEW YORK, Sep 14, 2005/ FW/ --- In a fitting show at the Altman Building, 2005 CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year winner John Varvatos showed an all menswear collection for Spring 2006 after showing a combined menswear/womenswear show for the past several seasons.

Known for his sartorial elegance, the collection epitomized John Varvatos’ mastery of tailoring techniques and substantiated his ‘Menswear of the Year Award’ for 2005.

Giving a nod to the ‘color trend’ for menswear, the New York-based designer sent earth tones in different hues, keeping things neutral. And with highlights of yellows, light olive greens and blues, it became a fresh and breezy statement.

John Varvatos also dressed his gents for all occasions. For the casual afternoon or weekend get-away, there is the crinkled suit and pants that one does not have to worry about steaming or ironing. It’s the go-anywhere, ready-for-anything outfit, something that every guy should have.

Of course, Varvatos did not forget about black tie affairs and proposed pin striped suits with two-button jackets.

But it was the cardigans that Varvatos showed innovations, cutting it more like a bomber jacket thus giving it an edgy look.

Two words about this collection – fabulous and marvelous! They might be overused words, but they fit nicely with John Varvatos’ Spring 2006 menswear collection.
