NEW YORK, Feb 10, 2003/ FW/ --- During these uncertain times wherein war jitters even affect the
stock market, it is a delight to be in a show where 'Deep Thoughts' are funny and farthest
from the topic of Iraq and North Korea.
Such was the case at Kenneth Cole's show held last Friday, where he took a cue from the long
running comedy series 'Saturday Night Live' where the designer interjected his own 'Deep Thoughts'
such as 'If you think nobody cares, try taking their front row seats.'
A very fashion moment of course, and that only happens during fashion week!
Deep thoughts aside and back to fashion, Kenneth Cole whose shoe empire had turned into a
full-pledged fashion house presented a collection meant for urban wear.
No, it is not hip hop... actually very far from that.
It's sophisticated wear galore, meant for serious young adults who work hard and play hard.
To say that this is a 'minimalist' collection will be wrong because it is not Kenneth Cole's
true style.
Kenneth Cole goes for simple lines - streamlined with a dash of surprises.
When it looked like it is going to be a black and white collection, the designer sent
color bursts of yellow, green and blue without skipping a bit.
A very tight collection, the designer never lost his focus and dazzled the audience with
modern looks that can be worn from the office to an early evening cocktail.
With an eye on the bottom line, the whole collection is wearable, and you can actually
just pick out anyone of them from the runway and wear it on the streets of the city.
In this uncertain times, it is good to see a sure bet - Kenneth Cole's Fall 2003 collection
will surely be on store shelves this fall.
