NEW YORK, Sep 8, 2005/ FW/ --- Kicking off the New York season, Kenneth Cole raised the bar on tailoring skills while keeping a line continually commercially viable.
Presenting a very wearable collection, Kenneth Cole did not make any fuss to the fact that his company exists to sell clothes. The pleasant surprise is that although the New York-based designer has maintained that he “creates a line and does not design clothes,” his sartorial skills keeps on improving every season and his creations are becoming more artistic.
Take for instance the gray sweater with wide knitted lapels or the rust orange halter dress that reaches just below the knee. The design might be simple, but the construction is more complicated than meets the eye.
Beneath Kenneth Cole’s lighthearted approach to fashion is a serious outlook in the business of designing and selling clothes that has made Cole one of the darlings in this very fickle industry.
His short films before the show always makes his audience laugh. Like this season, as you have guessed, it was about the coming elections.
Yet, when the lights dimmed, the music started and the first model came out of the runway, it was first and foremost a catwalk presentation and most important of all, a very successful one too. If they fly off the shelves in spring, it will not be a surprise at all!
And to make things a little interesting, Kenneth Cole also launched his new fragrance for men during the show – Kenneth Cole for Men. It’s already available at your favorite fragrance counter.
