Lane Bryant is one of the first companies that recognized that there is a market for plus-size women. It started small, with only a few stores and a mail catalog. In 1982, Lane Bryant was purchased by The Limited and became part of The Limited family of retail stores such as Express, The Limited and Henri Bendel. With the purchase, it was also separated from the mail order catalog Lane Bryant.

With almost two decades under The Limited management, Lane Bryant has become one of the most fashion-forward for plus-size women clothing. After all, Lane Bryant's motto about fashion is Fashion isn't about size...it's about attitude, style and confidence.
