LOS ANGELES, Mar 29, 2004/ FW/ --- It’s a heartwarming story. Designer Lloyd Klein is back on the runway less than two months after a life-threatening accident. Seeing him walking on the runway is short of a miracle. Being presented an elegant and sexy collection by Lloyd Klein is literally breathtaking.

“The collection is fantastic,” commented actress Bai Ling who was sitting front row. “It’s very French and very elegant.”

The actress who will be one of the cast of the upcoming Star Wars movie hit it right with her description. The more than 70 looks shown today at the Smashbox Studios were signature Lloyd Klein – sensuous and alluring, practical yet edgy, luxurious yet natural.

Using leopard prints in browns with a hard dark cast as the main color palette, the softer autumnal sensibilities built in with beige-browns and lighting purples gave the collection edginess.

Giving a nod to the metallic trend this season, Lloyd Klein sent gowns, pants and dresses that are decorated with sequined or gold lamé.

According to the show notes, “Lloyd Klein’s woman for this season is a world traveler. She has just returned from a three-month journey in Africa to the ‘urban jungle of New York’ and has a sense of ‘wildness’ yet practicality about her.

The show, which was dominated by leopard prints, gave what the designer promised as a model wore gray cashmere jacket in the afternoon over her leopard draped jersey dress.

The clothes were gorgeous, the music was upbeat and the audience was psyched. It was a great show, and the collection was the center of attention. Yet, the focus is on Lloyd Klein, and his speedy recovery. It’s almost mythical, like the phoenix rising from the ashes.
