NEW YORK, Sep 13, 2003/ FW/ --- The Daily, the official publication of New York Fashion Week,
dubbed Lloyd Klein as the 'New Klein in Town.'
With Calvin Klein's 'retirerement', a spot just opened in the New York fashion triumvirate
composed of Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and Calvin Klein.
So is Lloyd Klein in the running to be the next Prince of New York fashion?
Looking at his Spring 2004 collection presented Friday at the tents, the Los Angeles and
Paris-based designer showed that he has the mettle and creativity to ascend to the position.
His elegant 1930s inspired collection was well-received by the audience which included
Jocelyne Windelstein and Danny Pelosi who sat front row during his show.
"The collection was inspired by strong and confident women of the 1930s. Not too much
fantasy and a lot of elegance," the designer said backstage when well-wishers congratulated
him for a great show.
From the black powder crepe suit with a white half moon pique de coton applique and matching
skirt, to the onyx full-length chiffon body gown embroidered with chains, Lloyd Klein's
tribute to the opulence and discrete luxury of the 1930s is a sure winner.
His celebrity clients which includes Whitney Houston, Halle Berry, Rebecca Romijn Stamos,
Lisa Marie Presley, Renee Zellwegger, Gretchen Mol,Sarah Wynter and his numerous fans will
definitely approve.
The designer used masculine fabrics and turned them into feminine couture. Liquid satins,
powdered crepes, crisp cotton, lush organza, bouncy tulle, iridescent silks and sober
chiffon became garmens that moved between relaxed luxury and au courant basics.
Lloyd Klein's signature sleeves and structured shade, together with energetic
shoulders and profoundly tight waistlines resulted in a recompensed simplicity.
This show is one of the best during the season and one of the most beautiful.
Bravo House of Klein! You are truly the new Klein in town!
