LOS ANGELES, Sep 22, 2005/ FW/ --- With his second line Marc, Marc Jacobs continues his approbation of the youth culture sending a quirky and lovable collection meant for the echo boomer generation.
Using sorbet shades of the rainbow and of course the requisite black and neutral palette that has swept the Spring 2006 New York season, Marc Jacobs took some inspiration from the 1980s with leggings and wrap-around blouses ending in sash.
Speaking of sashes, cloth bands the size of an obi were the accessory of choice as the New York-based designer used them in dresses and separates as belts. In fact, Marc Jacobs proposes wide belts from 3 to 6 inches for Spring / Summer 2006.
Another interesting addition – arm warmers! Worn as is or part of long sleeves cotton knit leotards (for working out perhaps?), it actually looks cute.
Baby doll dresses and just below the knee frocks will be a favorite among the school hallway fashionistas.
Too bad that very few of these high school kids can afford Marc by Marc Jacobs because it will surely be a definite change for the better over the oversized tees and very low rise oversize pants that kids wear nowadays.
Standouts include a biker jacket full of zips and pockets that even the thirty-something generation will want to held a hold of.
Check out the totes, backpacks and gym bags also. They stand on their own as ‘must haves’ come March.
