Mark Kroker's career has been built upon persistent innovation of his craft. He has developed
a signature look that fuses the ethereal with the modern, creating styles that once reflect
an ancient exoticism and cutting-edge design.
An early designer profile called Kroeker "a poet, pioneer and perfectionist."
Born to missionary/teacher parents, Mark Kroeker had a "nomadic" upbringing. From Turkey,
to Iran and Western Europe, then, Oklahoma and Texas in the U.S., young Mark Kroeker learned
different cultures at an early age.
In 1987, he moved to New York to attend Parsons School of Design where he earned his BFA.
His early design work was intricately textured, brightly patterned and used radically
luxurious fabrics.
Kroeker drew heavily on inspiration from the Middle East, his fascination with Haute Couture and
his love of American pop culture and street style.
Converging these different elements into one, Mark Kroeker launched his own collection in 1997.
Since then, he has quietly established himself as one of New York's most inventive designers.
