Super Suite

NEW YORK, Nov 1, 2002/ FW/ --- Last September, New York-based designer Mark Montano unveiled his Spring 2003 collection and his new book 'Super Suite' during his Spring 2003 show at Times Square.

'Super Suite', a 128-oage DIY guide for teens about room decorating is a natural evolution of his column 'Cool Room.'

Backstage at Mark Montano's show, it was not just the models who were getting a lot of attention.

The designer himself was interviewed by a TV Crew (see accompanying photos) regarding his new book.

FW spent a few minutes with Mark Montano (after his TV interview) to discuss both his collection and 'Super Suite'.

"Teen girls want to express their individuality," said Mark Montano. "Super Suite is the ultimate bedroom make-over guide for teens. It's about being creative and using everyday items to make the bedroom more than just a place to sleep."

The book which is available in all major bookstores and Amazon.com features 15 rooms that was 'made over.'

Using everyday items - the ones you can buy from your local hardware store or even the grocery store, and a lot of creativity, these everyday items were transformed into decorative pieces.

When asked how he found the time to write the book in between designing his collections and running his business, Mark answered, "I wanted to do it, so I found time for it."

"I wanted to share with teen-agers that things that are beautiful does not necessarily mean they are expensive. And if they made it themselves, there is a certain feeling of achievement when you are done," he added.
