NEW YORK, Feb 8, 2006/ FW/ --- Giving a nod to the Anglomania trend that hit the menswear catwalks, Nanette Lepore’s Fall 2006 collection was inspired by the Edwardian period in England.
Showing tailored suitings with traditional menswear details with the tuxedo inspired cummerbunds and complementing it with ultra-feminine silhouettes on her blouses and dresses to accentuate the waist with a ribbon tied on the back.
Her daywear includes tweeds and plaids with a mix of romantic florals as well as foulard prints and lively polka dots in silk.
Following the trends seen at the tents this season, she introduces skinny jeans and wide menswear style trousers, skirts with soft pegged style pleats and high waist minis as part of her collection.
Her evening on the other hand has an exuberance of glamour with a plunging neckline gown in velvet red, gunmetal lame and chiffon embellishing it with fan-shaped beading with fringe.
On top of it all, Nanette Lepore launched her first shoe collection showing three runway styles of the 15 which included a high-heel wedge boots in shimmery suede and velvet, round toe wedge heel ribbon lace ups in printed wool, jacquard and suede and hand-stitched high heel lattice-woven sandals in metallic suede.
This designer’s muse has certainly grown up, be it day or evening, she has passed the debutante stage!
