LONDON, Feb 17, 2005/ FW/ --- Think about Christopher Columbus’s pumpkin pants and teams those with a 70’s halter and you will have the future look of fashion.
Preen is doing something very different from their counterparts this season which is news worthy. With many a-symmetrical designs and layered wrappings, there is nothing stitched symmetrically throughout the collection.
Tanks may adore rouging on the left side, but the right side is styled flat front with a thinner strap. Skirts may be folded on one side, but puffed on the other in a different hue. Very futuristic is what I call it.
Preen’s usage of grey and checkered prints were nice. The other colours were futuristic in the respect of styling. Women in the future will probably want to live simple and not think about their daily wardrobe.
So Preen suggest that she will wear a pale canary dress with matching pasty yellow hosiery and flats. Many of the looks were finished with an attached pumpkin puff skirt or shorts.
Extra crouch and baggy male trousers looked great with a synched high waist. Although many of the silhouettes were baggy, they still had a fee-line allure.
A few male models flew passed that I almost missed because of their androgynous bone structure and long hair.
The male garments are very similar to the females, but with some great over lapping button lapel coats. Their use of jersey was interesting on both the male and female body in the way in which it wrapped and fell around the body.
Intricate design is what Preen is all about and it has proven that their signature approach to design has worked yet again for a look to the future….
