Preen: Gothic Punk

Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi's Preen debuted at the London Fashion Week scheduled show for
the Spring 2001 season.
They launched their label in 1996 and a year later, they established
a stand alone shop at Nottinghill.
In 1998, they went wholesale and by 1999, they were selling
in Tokyo in their own two shops.
Their merchandise are also sold in New York and Hongkong, and
of course, London.
Hip and edgy, Preen's target market is from late teens to early 30s.
Their design influence
spans not only decades but centuries - from early Briton, to Victorian to punk trash.
A proponent
of deconstruction and reconstruction of garments, the duo would rather call it "recycling."
Luxurious antique fabric and accessories are transformed into urbanwear.
For Spring 2001, the look was definitely the 1980s punk with splashes of tie-dyed and
assymetrical cuts making it very interesting.
Very dark colors dominated the collection with a sprinkling of
beige and paisley prints.
Evening urban wear!
