New York, Sep 22, 2001/FW/ --- Even before 7th on Sixth announced the cancellation of
New York Fashion Week, Polo Ralph Lauren had already announced that they were cancelling
their Spring 2002 show out of respect to the victims and their families. A well-known philatrophist and
a supporter of charity, Ralph Lauren's decision was not surprising.
Instead of a glitzy presentation we usually associate with Ralph Lauren, the Spring 2002 collection was
a very low-key show presented to a small number of press and buyers at their showroom. Ralph Lauren made a speech before the
start of the show.
The Polo Ralph Lauren, has established the American Heroes fund and employee donations will be matched dollar for
dollar by the company.
As the models paraded the makeshift runway, sans the glitz, it was easy to see that this collection is
one of the most beautiful in New York this season. Rugged combination of white, ivory, chamois and sand
worn day and night was the main theme.
Lace petticoats, weathered chino trousers, ruffled peasant blouses and distrissed leather jackets. Accessories
were dangling earrings, wedge sandals and studded hand tooled belts.
Ralph Lauren decided to go west this Spring! This collection would be a favorite here in Dallas and the whole of the
Southwest. I forsee women wearing this collection all over the country.
So, ladies, watch for this western inspired collection when it hits the stores in December!
