It’s after lunch on Friday and fashion week is almost at a close. Exhaustion has fairly well
set in but I’m startled in to a nostalgic reverie by the Duran Duran eighties music that starts
pumping out at the Rebecca Danenberg show. Surely this can’t be back in already? Well, with a
few adjustments, it kinda sorta works. A turquoise cashmere trench coat, crimson patent boots
and chunky gold jewelry with the odd boxy rainbow lizard suit are what I mean. I didn’t like
the acid silk print turtleneck - it looked like the model had been sprayed with paint by PETA.
However, the most wearable piece was a merino periwinkle sleeveless turtleneck with bone wide
waist and side snap. There was more plaid here too but taking the form of shapes like a boring
wool halter dress. The merino yellow single shoulder tie sweater with diamond cut black
lambskin pant showed diamonds all the way down the leg and were groovy like Dynasty was.
If you wear a look from this show, make it this one rather than the black beaded band pant
(very pretty, completely see through) and merino sleeveless turtleneck unless you are
brimming with body confidence. //Susan Redstone
