Robert Cary-Williams: Alternative Chic
By: Boyd Davis

Sexy, unorthodox and avant-garde sums up Robert Cary-Williams designs.
For Spring 2001, the collection is almost Gothic, with touches of Victorian designs for both
the men and women collection.
The clothes look like they are falling off, as if they are dolls
hurriedly dressed. But don't be decieved, for it is only an illusion.
The garment construction is impeccable, and no child's play.
The line between daywear and evening wear is blurred.
It is not citywear nor urbanwear, it is Robert Cary-Williams.
A graduate of Central St. Martin, London-based designer Robert Cary-Williams started
as an underground fashion designer.
He burst into the mainstream fashion scene in October 1998, (the same year he launched
his company by bagging an on-schedule show at London Fashion Week.
Part of London's avant-garde designers during the 1990s, Robert Cary-Williams take
deconstruction to its extreme.
His creations usually ooze with intelligence and attitude.
