LONDON, Feb 18, 2003/ FW/ --- Last season, Roland Mouret's show was one of the biggest
hits in London. This season, he continues his winning streak with a sensuously
rebellious collection reminiscent of the 1960's British Mod and Mary Quant.
Using black as his basic color, the designer sent sexy black dress accented with
black leather or gold harnesses, thick black bonded wool coats striped with
black patent leather, conical breats plates and brightly colored knitwear, a new line
that he is introducing this season.
Known initially for his eveningwear, Roland Mouret showed day dresses last season,
and for Fall 2003, new elements in his line include jeans and bag collections,
showing his breadth and depth as a designer.
His design philosophy is simple - 'make clothes that are both modern and wearable.'
And that formula works!
His label had seen consistent growth for the past two years as evidenced by
the new product lines he introduces on the runway each season.
With his commercial success and design artistry, London might have found its new
fashion star, a position that has been empty since Alexander McQueen and John
Galliano left.
