DALLAS, Mar 30, 2005/ FW/ --- Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs might have just entered the car business with his Sean John Wheel Collection, a new line of custom, precision-forged aluminum rims for sports trucks, luxury SUVs and high-end U.S.-and German-made automobiles, but he is already conquering another market, our neighbors to the north, Canada.
In his usual confident style, the 2004 winner of the CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year Award exclaimed, “Sean John's taking over Canada! We've had the U.S. conquered for a while, now it's time for Canada.”
Putting his money where his mouth is, Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs made personal appearances in Montreal, Quebec, on March 28th and Toronto, Ontario, on March 29th to promote the Sean John line of clothing.
In both cities, Mr. Combs conducted several interviews with various media outlets, appear on local television programs and met with key retailers in the area, all done to bolster sales in the region.
With annual retail sales in the United States of over $450 million today, the Sean John label had only been existence for 8 years, making its debut at New York Fashion Week during the Spring 1999 season.
Since then, the label had grown to a full fashion line, including accessories and sold in better department and specialty stores across the country as well as select retailers around the world.
In Canada, Sean John is currently sold mostly at independent boutiques and at many of the best athletic chains in the country, such as Athlete's World, Footlocker, and the premiere sporting store, The Sporting Life.
Hardworking as he is, it’s really not surprising that both his fashion and music empires continue to be successful, and for Sean "P. Diddy" Combs was recently declared "One of the Most Influential Businessmen in the World" by Time Magazine and CNN.
And just to give you an idea on how serious Sean "P.Diddy" Combs about making his label popular above the 49th parallel is,
as a conclusion to his Canadian tour promoting Sean John, he threw a party for over 500
lucky guests, including celebrity Joy Bryant and many others at Toronto hot spot Rosewater
Supper Club.
The action then moved on to Metro, where over 2000 locals showed up to party with Combs
until the wee hours of the morning
