LONDON, Sep 24, 2003/ FW/ --- After being recently appointed to design the official Athens Olympic costumes, Greek born Sophia Kokosalaki presented a spring summer 2004 range that had modern day goddesses parading the London catwalk.
A collection that was based primarily on cool pastels accompanied by strict black mixed the classic traditions of Greek culture that Kokosalaki is known for with this seasons trends that succeeded in producing a feminine, young wardrobe.
Drapes of sheer fabric hugged bodies, comfortable shorts indicated ancient Greek style sandals often accompanied with casual wear and tunic dresses.
Mini dresses and mini skirts along with transparency, off the shoulder tops and plunging V’s focused on the sexiness of women.
She turned the use of leather into a soft and sensual looking fabric rather than its generally strong and aggressive connotations while reserving her evening wear of sparkles (thanks to parade sponsor Swarovski), to show the power of the beautiful Greek goddess as one that has hidden evil powers not to be mixed with despite her somewhat nymph appearance.
Kokosalaki, through her embrace and pride of her roots, and hence her ability of adapting its culture to the modern proved yet again that she is one of the most important designers on the British catwalks this season.
