PARIS, Oct 5, 2004/ FW/ - Even with the vengeance of rain, Sophia Kokosalaki filled the Couvent des Colliers during her first showing in Paris as the Greek designer presented a very soft and feminine cuts of jersey silk and chiffon dresses with a Roman touch.

With feathered minis that resembled the very soft cotton candy or even a cloud that seemed to float with every step and the very loosely hanging wide leg Bermuda shorts worn with a loosely hanging belt that ties to the side, the London-based designer who designed all the Athens uniforms during the Olympic Games last summer proved once more that she is a design force in her own right.

Already famous for her mastery of draping techniques, Kokosalaki took ruche up to another level this season with loosely ruche up skirts some with the emphasis just on the back and some that looked like it had been attacked by static, a mean feat from the very beginning because the Greek-born designer just made static on clothes very chic.

Another stand out look is the ribbon dress joined together at the hem. From afar, it looked it was a trick on the eye, but up close, it showed intricate detailing and masterful construction.

With rumors rife on both sides of the Atlantic that Sophia Kokosalaki is on the very short list of designers who are being considered to replace the Artistic Director job that Julien Macdonald vacated last season, this collection that is classical and avant-garde at the same time put Sophia Kokosalaki very much on the running!
