DALLAS, May 5, 2007/ FW/ --- Since Twiggy burst into the scene during the 1960s, the mini skirt was embedded in the fashion consciousness. This ‘once scandalous’ hemline has become a standard and for Fall 2007, Sophia Kokosalaki redefined it, making long legs chicer than chic.
On a predominantly black collection with splashes of white and metallic blue to break the monochrome, multiple variants of the mini skirt was proposed ranging from skater skirt to conquistador shorts-inspired and from asymmetrical to pencil shape.
As a drop-down waist mini, rolled at the hem making it faux conquistador shorts, the silhouette became hourglass. As an apron over a pencil skirt, it had girly attitude; done with an asymmetrical hemline and teamed with a fur tunic, it was sophisticated.
As a coatdress with skater skirt, it was preppy mini; and with Sophia Kokosalaki’s signature draping and ruching, call it inventive.
Of course, a girl cannot live just on mini skirts alone, so Kokosalaki also threw in cigarette leather pants, patent leather coats, and quilted nylon blouson to complete the wardrobe.
