PARIS, Oct 5, 2006/ FW/ --- Sending mini dresses, conquistador-inspired shorts and skinny pants on the runway, Sophia Kokosalaki wowed her audience with an innovative and colorful collection for Spring 2007.
Known for her the ‘handcrafted elements’ for her garments, Kokosalaki used micro pleats to create shapes and add texture to a very soft and fluid collection. Handkerchief hemlines, sheered & rolled hem, ruche taut bodices and double-waisted shorts dominated the collection.
With a very neutral color palette of brown and gray, the Greek-born designer added sorbet shades of lavender, salmon and yellow green for highlights.
Accessories were minimal, the designer opting to use only belts. And, it was a good choice because the couture elements that was definitely present in all the pieces were highlighted.
In short, the clothes did the talking!
Edgy and elegant, two words that are seldom used together were Kokosalaki’s byword this season.
