DALLAS, Aug 24, 2006/ FW/ --- Known for her bridal gowns, Vera Wang has been a significant fashion force since the 1990s.

Born in New York City on June 27, 1949, Vera Wang has a degree in BA in Liberal Arts. Her childhood dream was to be a figure skater, but that dream was extinguished in 1968 when she did not win at the National Figure Skating Finals.

So, she became an editor at Vogue for 17 years and Design Director for Ralph Lauren for two years.

In 1990, she opened her first boutique at Madison Avenue. She started her very successful bridal line in 1992 and then expanded to evening dresses in 1993.

In 1994, she wanted to make a contribution to the sport she loved, so she offered Nancy Kerrigan to make her costumes.

Her trademark trademark use of illusion netting to give the appearance of bare skin while the skin is totally covered was born! She also became a household name with the headlines on the Winter Olympics.

Although already well-known among young brides-to-be, it is fitting that Vera Wang became a household name because of the sport she loves.

In 2001, Vera Wang published her book on weddings, Vera Wang On Weddings which was dubbed as a bridal must have. It is an all inclusive wedding book, and highlights the fact that Vera Wang is one of the forces in the multi-billion dollar bridal industry.

In 2002, Vera Wang launched the perfume, "Vera Wang" in cooperation with Unilever Cosmetics.

In 2005, she was named 'Womenswear Designer of the Year' by the CFDA.'

In 2006, she launched a new perfume, 'Vera Wang Princess' and teamed up with Kohl's to launch 'Very Vera by Vera Wang.'
