MILAN Jun 29, 2004/ FW/ --- Star power and provocative music were the ingredients that raised everyone’s adrenaline at the combined Versus and Versace show last Sunday night, but it is the great clothes that made it a hit among the attendees.
With Catherine Zeta-Jones, fresh from filming the upcoming all-star cast film “Ocean’s 12” sitting at the front row and Keith Flint, former front man of Prodigy with his new band, “Clever Brains Fryin” providing live music, the runway show was the talk of the town. But both did not upstage the real focus – the collection.
Donatella, who was seemingly inspired by the ‘anything goes’ 1970s chose to dress the Versus fans with funky blazers with face-painted brightly colored t-shirts worn with colorful loafers and Argyle sweaters with rock star iconography.
“Highway to Hell, Stairway to Heaven” printed in gothic letters on brightly colored shirts paired with slim jeans, pinstripe blazers matched with colorful rugby shirts and the “Medusa” logo was used primarily as a belt buckle are what the Versus fans can look forward to.
Versus target audience might have been born after the 1970s, or if they were born during that decade, they might be too young to remember. Nevertheless, Donatella just found a new generation to enjoy it.
Maybe, fashion can bridge the generation gap!
