Versus: Water World

Dec 31, 2001/ FW/ --- To quote Godfrey Deeny, "Few people are more generous of
spirit than the Versace family."
I remember an interview with Donatella Versace by CNN after Gianni died. There was
so much sadness in her, but there was no anger towards her brother murderer.
She just said, "I am not angry with the man who did it. I am angry with the system that allowed
such a thing to happen."
Donatella once again showed the generosity of her spirit when he opening credits for the
Versus show read: "New York and all of America has shown the world the true meaning of
courage and dignity during these tragic time and difficult times. We would like to
express our love and heartfelt support to all of you."
Coming from a woman who had experienced first hand what violence can do, I admired Donatella
for her courage as much as I admire her talent.
The Versus Spring 2002 collection reaffirmed that the House of Versace is alive and well;
that it is more than ready to rule the fashion world once again!
Bright colored swimwear in bold prints or stripes, punky hipster pants, tight one-shoulder
dresses with hefty slashes and bomber jakcets with ruffles showed individuality and
courage.
Amidst sadness and tragedy, Donatella Versace showed that she has TRU-GRIT. She showed
the world the generosity of spirit and true courage that we all need right now! Bravo!
