DALLAS, Nov 25, 2003/ FW/ --- Known for her Eastern inspired designs, Vivienne Tam has captured a niche market in the fashion world. But last September in New York, she showed a different facet of her design prowess, presenting a very westernized look, which is almost Victorian in ambiance.
Layered mini dresses with spaghetti straps, shorts paired with layered empire waist tops and corset inspired dresses dominated her Spring 2004 collection.
Though clothes were very western, she did not disappoint her fans that includes author Amy Tan, Emma & Georgina Bloomberg, and actress Ileana Douglas who all sat front row, cheering for their friend.
Vivienne Tam sent floral prints on the runway that could have been drawings on a Chinese screen. In short, she did not forget to incorporate the thing that we adore her most.
Maybe her decision to depart from her signature style is the 2003 Shanghai International Fashion Showcase wherein she showed her Spring 2004 line.
Held last Oct 25th to 30th in China, the Showcase featured Ferragamo, Lanvin, Vivienne Westwood and Emanuel Ungaro along with Vivienne Tam.
No matter what her reason was, the collection is still as delicate and enchanting as her signature style.
