Vivienne Tam: East Meets West

Vivienne Tam was born in Canton, China and raised in Hong Kong.

She went to school in London and studied fashion at the Polytechnic Fashion School in Hong Kong.

In 1981, she moved to the United States and established her own label during the same year.

Vivienne Tam defines her design through the traditional Chinese Yin & Yang, interpreted with the east meeting the west, combiningng traditional elements with a modern edge.

She focuses on new textiles and fabrications, adding to it the timeless quality of embroidery and prints.

Although her clothes can be worn by any age group, the twenty-somethings always seem to identify with her.

She presented at 7th on Sixth for the first time in 1993.
