PARIS, Oct 8, 2003/ FW/ --- Vivienne Westwood who is celebrating her 34th year in fashion this year went to the jungle this season for her inspiration.
With the background music playing birds and predators sound, and a slab of wood placed at the center of the runway, the Queen of Punk sent clothes in earth tones colors to the catwalk.
Staying close to home with the silhouettes, Westwood updated the punk look to be earth friendly, instead of urban-based.
Mini skirts, Capri pants, pedal pushers, and skorts became the palette of her art.
“Fashion is applied art,” the designer quoted on a press release about the opening of the ‘Vivienne Westwood at the V&A” Exhibition which will be opened next year from April 1 – July 11, 2004 at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
And for Spring 2004, Vivienne Westwood remained true to her world.
Using prints and embroidery, ruches and sheers, the veteran designer explored the jungle and made it come alive. Her signature rebelliousness has remained even after 34 years.
Claire Wilcox, curator of the Westwood exhibition said about the designer, “Vivienne Westwood combines fearless non-conformity with a sense of tradition.”
In this Paris season where femininity is back, and the woman is celebrated, Vivienne Westwood decided take a different road with this jungle-look collection.
