LONDON, Aug 14, 2001/ --- Supermodel Naomi Campbell has finally put an end to her destructive two-year relationship with Italian businessman Flavio Briatore.

After partying with Sean "Puffy" Combs and his new flame Emma Heming (who also used to date Briatore) at the Sardinia nightclub, The Billionaire, the couple got into an violent argument while waiting for the tycoon's yacht, Lady Blu at around 4 AM. According to reports, Briatore, 51, punched the brunette bombshell in the face and kicked her several times, leaving her with a bloody nose, bruises and a swollen face.

"He just went completely berserk. He hit her in the face and tried to strangle her. Then he ran off," Naomi's mom Valerie told the New York Post's Page Six from her home in London. "Apparently, they were having a really nice time. There was no provocation. It was so unexpected."

Naomi, 31 -- who has previously dated Robert De Niro, former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson and flamenco dancer Joaquin Cortez -- was questioned by Italian police for half an hour about the attack, but no investigation will be made if she doesn't file an official complaint within 20 days.

The dazzling diva has been known for having quite a temper of her own. She pled guilty to assault charges in a Canadian criminal court for beating up her assistant while filming the movie "Prisoner of Love" in 1998. Campbell has enrolled in anger-management training since the incident.

Briatore - who gave Campbell a huge diamond ring in April -- released a statement that denied any violence on his behalf: "This is untrue. It was an ordinary argument, one of many over the last two years. Now, it's over. I care very much for Naomi. Unfortunately, I have done things which I regret, which have caused her to leave me."

If the statuesque stunner sticks to her guns, it may not be that easy. But the most painful part could be getting rid of the small tattoo on her arm - a la Angelina Jolie or Melanie Griffith -- that bears the letters F.B.
