DALLAS, Sep 6, 2001/ FW/ --- American supermodel Carolyn Murphy joins British actress and producer Elizabeth Hurley as spokemodels for Estee Lauder.

In this new dual image, Carolyn Murphy will promote the make-up, skincare and spa products plus the free standing stores. Elizabeth Hurley will continue to appear in ads for the very lucrative fragrance lines. She will also make personal appearances around the world in behalf of Estee Lauder.

Leonard Lauder, Chairman of The Estee Lauder Companies Inc., said of the global plan, "Elizabeth and Carolyn complement each other perfectly in both personality and natural beauty. I am so pleased at the direction the brand is taking with this announcement."

In her new role for Estee Lauder Carolyn will appear in advertisements for makeup, skincare and spa. On her new assignment, Carolyn commented, "The image of Estee Lauder is so powerful and compelling. I'm looking forward to joining this aspirational roster of women who have personified the image of beauty for Estee Lauder over the years. This is an incredible opportunity."

Carolyn Murphy has appeared on the covers of American, French, British and Italian Vogue, W, Harper's Bazaar, British and French ELLE, and Italian Marie Claire. In 1998, she was named model of the year at the VH1 Fashion Awards. Recently, Carolyn embarked on a career as an actress, appearing in the Barry Levinson film, "Liberty Heights." Carolyn is married with a newborn daughter and lives in New York.

Elizabeth Hurley, has been the face of Lauder for the past 7 years and has been instrumental in worldwide success in Estee Lauder's recent fragrance launches. For the past two months, there had been rumors that Hurley would be replaced by either Gwyneth Paltrow or Linda Evangelista when her contract expires Spring 2002. As it turned out, the rumors were just rumors. Liz Hurley will just be given a more focused involvement at Estee Lauder.
