Nov 21, 2001/ FWD/ --- Julianne Moore's is the latest flawless face to join the Revlon stable.
The cosmetics company announced today that the flame-haired 40-year-old actress has joined
its exclusive group of spokespeople.
The twice Oscar-nominated Moore has appeared in films like "Hannibal," "Boogie Nights" and "The Big
Lebowski." Next month "The Shipping News," co-starring Kevin Spacey, Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett,
hits theaters.
Moore breaks a big name dry spell for Revlon. Since it split from longtime rep Cindy Crawford last
year, the company hasn't brought on any major stars, though it has retained the famous faces of Halle
Berry and Karen Duffy.
Revlon Executive Vice-President of Marketing Cheryl Vitali cautions though that Moore won't be the
first of a slew of stars signing up with the brand. "She is one of the biggest people we've signed
in a long time, but we don't have plans to hire another ten celebrities," Vitali told us. She added,
"the ones we do have we want to strongly relate to our brand."
Vitali sees Moore as ideal for Revlon because in addition to being "gorgeous and colorful," she's
very well-liked. "She's a woman women love."
And likewise, she loves women and their causes. Moore will not only appear in Revlon advertising
campaigns -- her first commercial will air in January -- but she will also play a part in
philanthropic efforts in the fight against breast and ovarian cancers. "I have always admired
[Revlon's] dedication to women's health issues and their long-standing position as a truly iconic
American beauty company," the actress said.
Moore is expecting her second child with director Bart Freundlich this spring. Son Caleb is almost
four.
