Laetitia Casta Gets Back in the Game with IMG
By Jenny Bailly
Jul 6, 2002/ FWD/ --- Having been out of the fashion spotlight in recent months, new mom
Laetitia Casta is apparently ready to get back in the game, and has chosen IMG to represent
her in New York.
Her new agent is IMG's Anne Nelson, a heavy hitter who already represents Gisele Bundchen,
Elizabeth Hurley, and Hilary Swank for endorsements.
Nelson tells us that Casta plans to split her time between London (where the French have
claimed she fled to evade her native country's hefty income tax) and New York, where her
boyfriend, photographer Stephane Sednaoui, is currently based.
The two have an eight-month-old daughter, Sahteene.
Although Casta has cut back her modeling engagements of late, the 23-year-old certainly hasn't
been resting on her laurels. She has done four movies in France, two of which - "Les Ames
Fortes" and "Rue des Plaisirs" - are currently in theaters.
So can we now count on Casta to make the jump from the big screen back to the catwalk? "Runway,
I don't know. But editorial, definitely yes," Nelson says. She tells us Casta will also
continue acting, working with young French filmmaker Damien Odoul.
Hopefully Casta's alliance with IMG, an industry institution that also represents the likes
of Angela Lindvall and Carolyn Murphy, will fare better than her match-up with Madison Models.
That agency sued Casta and her father, Dominique Casta, for $2.5 million last year, alleging
in a suit filed in Manhattan Federal Court that Casta, Sr. "manipulated finances of his
daughter and engaged in an orchestrated scheme to defraud creditors and convert for his
own monies owed to Madison."
The complaint asserts that the commissions owed the agency "were earned by Laetitia Casta,
from modeling assignments for Victoria's Secret." The case is still pending.
Casta was discovered by one of Madison's photographers on a Corsican beach in 1993 when
she was only 15. Three years later she was one of Victoria's Secret's top models.
