May 31, 2002/ FWD/ --- Natalie Imbruglia is set to join an illustrious international club
that includes Claudia Schiffer, Catherine Deneuve, Kate Moss, and Laetitia Casta as the
newest L'Oreal spokeswoman.
The Australian singer and actress will begin appearing in television and print ads this
summer, promoting the brand's cosmetic and skincare products.
The 27-year-old will reportedly earn about $150,000 in the deal.
"Natalie is a perfect ambassador for our cosmetics," said L'Oreal. "She is known for her
genuine charm and personal strength of character as well as her physical beauty."
Imbruglia said it was an honor to be chosen by the French cosmetics company, but one she might
not have accepted at another time in her life.
"I think the L'Oreal contract is who I am now. Five years ago I might not have even done it,"
she told the UK's Daily Mail.
"Before this even came up, I think I've become much more feminine, and since I grew my hair
long, it's like a natural progression. I think the timing is perfect for where I'm at."
Imbruglia broke onto the international scene in 1997 - with a choppy, pixie 'do -- when the
single "Torn" from her debut album rose to the top of the charts.
She had already made a name for herself in her native Australia on the hit daytime drama
"Neighbours."
In addition to her new modeling gig, Imbruglia is currently planning a European tour to
promote her second album, "White Lilies Island."
