Liya Kebede Is The Newest Addition to Estee Lauder Beauties
Supermodel to Join Elizabeth Hurley and Carolyn Murphy in New Estee Lauder Global Advertising Campaign Strategy

Liya Kebede NEW YORK, Mar 15, 2003/ FW/ --- Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, Group President, The Estee Lauder Companies Inc., announced today that the Company will sign Liya Kebede and is renewing Elizabeth Hurley's contract, both of whom team with Carolyn Murphy as the faces of the Estee Lauder brand.

The new advertising campaign, under the direction of Aerin Lauder, Vice President of Global Advertising Estee Lauder, represents a key component of the brand renewal effort undertaken one year ago. Ms. Kebede, Ms. Hurley and Ms. Murphy's images will be utilized exclusively on behalf of Estee Lauder beauty products and in its fragrance, cosmetics and skincare advertising worldwide.

"Carolyn, Elizabeth and Liya are the definition of modern beauty," said Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne. "Their combined talent infuses the brand with energy, vitality and modernity and connects us with consumers of all ages and cultures in a contemporary, exciting and unexpected way."

Raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Liya Kebede established herself amongst the ranks of fashion's elite by appearing in fashion shows for such designers as Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. With her unique and stunning runway presence, Ms. Kebede has captivated the attention of the fashion and beauty world. She has appeared on the covers of major global fashion magazines, like French Vogue, Italian Vogue and V Magazine, and is in high demand with the industry's top international designers, editors and photographers.

Elizabeth Hurley's new contract marks the beginning of her ninth consecutive year representing Estee Lauder in its worldwide advertising campaigns. The multi-talented British actress is the face of Intuition and appears in its newest campaign, which will launch globally in major beauty, fashion and lifestyles magazines in April 2003. In addition, Ms. Hurley will continue to make personal appearances around the world on behalf of Estee Lauder and the Company's Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. Her tireless support of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, founded by Evelyn H. Lauder, includes her personal participation in the recent United States book and media tour that launched Mrs. Lauder's most recent collection of photography, An Eye For Beauty, proceeds of which benefited the cause.

Carolyn Murphy's first advertising campaign for Estee Lauder appeared in January 2002 issues of all major beauty, fashion and lifestyle magazines worldwide. When Estee Lauder launched her as its new face in September 2001, Vogue characterized Carolyn Murphy as icon in the making. Since then, her image has driven the modernity of the brand through advertising and at retail. She has also been instrumental in connecting the brand with consumers through global image building events such as Japan's Defining Beauty Awards and the BAMBI Awards in Germany. Ms. Murphy can currently be seen in a wide variety of skincare, makeup and fragrance print and television campaigns worldwide.

Ms. Murphy hails from Panama City, Florida, and is one of the modeling industry's brightest stars. She has worked with an impressive list of photographers including Mario Testino, Patrick Demarchelier, Michael Thompson, Steven Meisel, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, Bruce Weber and Peter Lindbergh and has appeared on the cover of virtually every major global fashion magazine. In November 1998, Ms. Murphy received the industry's highest acclaim and was named model of the year at the VH-1 Fashion Awards.

Ms. Murphy is also turning her talents toward acting. She has signed with CAA and is represented by Jenny Rawlings. Ms. Murphy received impressive reviews for her role in the Barry Levison film "Liberty Heights," and she is currently reading through scripts for her next role.
