DALLAS, Jan 3, 2004/ FW/ --- Last summer, we saw Adrianne Curry, a self-described ‘rock & roll tomboy’ make it to the top by winning UPN’s dramality series, “America’s Next Top Model.’

On Tuesday, January 13, twelve young women will again be taken away from their ordinary life and go to a ‘model boot camp’ to train them to be in the glamorous world of fashion.

UPN announced late last year who will be the competitors:

Southern belle Anna Bradfield who reminds you of Scarlett O’Hara when she speaks; Seattle-native Jenascia Chakos who wants to follow the footsteps of her mother who was once a model; Mercedes Scelba-Shorte, from Valencia, CA who has a passion for languages; Shandi Sullivan of Kansas City, MO, who is tired of working at Walgreens and wants to pursue another career; April Wilkner, from Miami Beach, FL who is passionate about fashion; Xiomara Frans who works as a bartender in New Jersey.

Heather Blumberg, an all-California girl who loves baseball; Yoanna House of Jacksonville, FL whose favorite movie is “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”; Camille McDonald from Mamaroneck, NY whose favorite TV show is “Metro TV”; Catie Anderson of Willmar, MN who currently works as an electrician; Sara Racey-Tabrizi of Seattle, WA who loves volleyball and basketball; and Houston Texas-native Bethany Harrison, who loves Mexican food and chocolate.

The twelve participants will live together in a New York City loft and vie for a multi-faceted Grand Prize package featuring the opportunity to be managed by the prestigious IMG Models.

In addition, the winner will have an opportunity to appear on the cover of a Sephora catalogue, as well as in a fashion spread in Jane magazine.

The model hopefuls will be mentored by top model Tyra Banks who has been in the industry for over a decade and took Paris by storm when she was just a teen-ager.

Tyra Banks co-executive produced the show with Ken Mok who oversaw the development of “Spin City” and “The Drew Carey Show” and was vice president of MTV Television Productions.

“America’s Next Top Model” premieres Tuesday, January 13 at UPN 9PM Eastern/ 8PM Central.
