PARIS, Jan 22, 2004/ FW/ --- ‘America’s Next Top Model’ Season 2 might be in full swing in the U.S., but the first season just hit the Paris airwaves.
And this week, while the haute couture season is going on, right on the eve of the Carven show, the Paris episodes are the ones being shown. Talk about perfect timing!
For those of you who followed the series, you might recall that Tyra introduced the contestants to the elegant world of haute couture via the House of Carven.
Pascal Millet, the designer for Carven met Adrianne, Elyse, Shannon and Robin.
“The girls are so beautiful,” Pascal Millet told FW when we talked to him backstage after the Carven show.
“It was a pleasure working with the girls and Tyra. I’ve known Tyra for years, so when she approached me about ‘America’s Next Top Model,’ I immediately said yes. As it turned out, it was a fun project to work on,” the designer continued.
The Paris episodes, specifically the one wherein the contestants wore Carven couture when they went out for dinner put the fashion house on the U.S. map once again.
Established in 1945 by Madame Carven, the House of Carven was the first fashion to cater to the petite woman, a revolutionary and innovative idea during that time.
Through the years, the house has expanded its client base and currently designs, manufactures and markets a line of ready-to-wear and accessories for women, apparel and accessories for men plus fragrance and perfumes.
Under the helm of Pascal Millet, the house is undergoing a revival --- rebuilding the brand and taking its rightful place in fashion history.
From the audience’s delightful reaction to the Haute Couture Spring 2004 collection shown at the Musée Galliera yesterday, Pascal Millet is on the right track.
When asked if Carven will make an encore to Season 2 of ‘America’s Top Model,’ the designer smiled enigmatically, saying, “Even if we are, and I’m not saying we are, I cannot tell you that.”
“But I can tell you one thing, I’m looking for the winner’s agency. I want to use Adrianne in my next show,” he added sincerely.
