DALLAS, Jul 28, 2006/ FW/ --- It was Versace that started the ‘supermodel’ phenomenon in the early 1990s. And for the maison’s women’s Autumn 2006/ Winter 2007 advertising campaign, Donatella Versace has chosen some of the world’s most famous and most beautiful supermodels - Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Caroline Murphy, Daria and Angela Lindvall to headline the campaign.

Explaining the new direction she is taking, Donatella Versace, Creative Director of the Versace Group said, “It was time to do something different. People are really looking at the 'super' models again today -how they dress – both casually and on the red carpet, where they socialize, how they live.”

“[Supermodels] are glamorous and they lead glamorous lives. Many are married to rock stars or to actors. Created by Versace in the early 90's, the 'supermodel' phenomenon has re-captured the media’s attention completely,” Donatella added.

For the past three seasons, Madonna, Demi Moore and Halle Berry represented the House of Versace for its testimonials. With the upcoming campaign, Versace once again goes back to its roots while updating and evolving the brand.

With the supermodels of the 1990s and today, present in the campaign, it shows a continuity of the Versace woman’s elegance and modishness, while also reflecting what she is today and what she will be tomorrow.

As the Versace Group said, “This new campaign underlines a clear change in the Versace woman. She is strong, graphic, confident yet feminine; glamorous and sensual, but not overtly sexy in keeping with the soft mood of luxury in Versace.”

Christy Turlington, who is married to actor Ed Burns and has two children while managing her own business and doing special appearances for charity commented on being back in front of the camera once again.

“I started my career working with the Versaces and it had been years since I had seen Donatella. It was great to spend a day catching up with old friends and familiar faces. Shooting the campaign was definitely much more fun than work." Turlington said.

Kate Moss, who also has a child, yet has been very busy as model, said, “It was fantastic to work with Donatella again. She is a very inspirational woman. It was great to see faces I haven’t seen for a while. We have all grown up and had children, so there was a lovely family atmosphere on set, with all our kids coming and going.”

Angela Lindvall said, “It was a real honor to have been chosen for the new Versace ad campaign, amongst some of the world’s most beautiful women. It’s great to see celebs in ads, but this return to a selection of top models demonstrates a different element of strength and diversity. Donatella loves what she does and does it well.”

The campaign was shot by Mario Testino in New York Studio last April and will run worldwide in select fashion and lifestyle magazines from September onwards.
