Andrew Urbain: For Your Eyes Only

New York, Feb 2001 / FashionWindows --- Andrew Urbain's show notes say that the inspiration for his
Fall 2001 collection comes from comes from Studio 54's disco days, the '60s film The Party and James Bond films.
And it was all that!
The young designer presented sexy one-shouldered ensembles, deep V-cut necklines and spaghetti straps, some of
which are worthy of the James Bond bombshells we have seen on film.
The make-up artists went for an updated look of the 60s and 70s eyes - black kohl and dark eyeliner. If false
eyelashes were used, you do not even notice it.
As a whole, it was a very wearable collection and some of them should be in your party-going wardrobe. Although,
I would say, leave the disco-inspired on the racks. It might look good on "Saturday Night Fever" dancing
with John Travolta. But this is the 21st century and even John Travolta had moved on to the future with his
Battlefield Earth flick.
Notable attendee of this show was Patricia Field, stylist of HBO's hit show, "Sex and the City" I can
see some of the clothes on the girls. The brown deep V-neck would look good on Kim Catrall.
Backstage, it was like being at Studio 54 - party... party... party... The models who were already dressed
for the runways looked just like the beautiful people you see at this New York hotspot.
